Free to Be Programs develops individualized behavior plans for each individual

in our program. These plans include maladaptive behaviors targeted for reduction

(e.g., physical aggression, self-injury) as well as skills that need to be developed

(e.g., taking a shower, crossing the street, shopping). These programs utilize

positive applied behavior analysis strategies that have been proven effective in

research. Punishment procedures are not utilized. All programs are reviewed by

Catherine Lichtenberger, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Behavior plans are implemented by the certified parents. The behavior department

provides training to the certified parents and monitors weekly progress on all

programs. A new behavior plan is developed every year, but changes are made

more often as needed.
