Residential Options

Children  (0-17)

Free to Be – FFA is one residential option for children.  We place one to two children with special needs with a certified family.  Certified families have been thoroughly screened, completed special training, and receive ongoing support and training.  For more information about our services LINK TO PROGRAMS AND SERVICES HERE.

Your service coordinator at Regional Center can let you know about supports you may be able to receive in your home as well as other residential options that may be available for your child such as small family homes or group homes.

Adults  (18 and older)

Free to Be – FHA is one residential option for adults.  We place one to two adults with special needs with a certified family.  Each individual has their own bedroom.  Certified families have been thoroughly screened, completed special training, and receive ongoing support and training.  For more information about our services LINK TO PROGRAMS AND SERVICES HERE.

Your service coordinator at Regional Center can let you know about supports you may be able to receive in your home as well as other residential options that may be available for adults such as supported living, independent living, adult residential facilities (ARF) and residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFE).

Talking to Regional Center

If you are considering residential placement for a family member, the first step is to talk with your service coordinator at regional center.  The service coordinator can tell you which options are appropriate and available in your area.   If Free to Be FFA or Free to Be FHA is selected as an option for your family member, the service coordinator will make a referral to our agency.  If you are interested in having someone from our agency talk to you about our services in more detail LINK FOR FAMILY CONTACT INFORMATION HERE.

Free to Be Programs currently serves individuals from North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC), Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC), Westside Regional Center, Harbor Regional Center, and Alta Regional Center.  All certified homes are located in the greater Los Angeles area.
